Pale Blue Dot

Inspired by Carl Sagan’s words on the perspective of the Earth from the Voyager in 1990 “There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceit than this distant image of our tiny world” Box of Birds / Stalker conceived a multi faceted, 8 projector performance installation at Carriageworks with myself (video/ photographic animation) and Matt Hughes (Madmapper/ Unity). Eight rotating, aerial boxes drop to form a collapsed prismatic world structure for a roaming audience. At the centre is solo writer/ performer, Shakira Clanton encircled by three aerialist dancers embodying the transformative state of the earth seen from a cosmic perspective. A first creative development with more to discover in the meeting points of allegorical point cloud animation and chaotic, natural imagery which manifests the world, physical and virtual.
