Re-Cognising Memory
Revisiting old haunted spaces of Newtown reviving and reconciling with the memories of the area and troubled share house days. I made six light drawing video composites on screens: Beauty Poverty Desire, Environmental Strategies, Reality Just a Subset of a Dream, Gravity Wake and Sleep Loops, Right Angles Dead Ends and Everything in Between and Building Home Life Career. Wonderful to be part of a gallery exhibition and be back in the hood. I found the memories of angst and using that as source material for art, less significant than I originally felt it back in the 90's. Gentrification... maturity... dealing with a bigger picture. Times change and with it our perceptions of the past.
