FOLLOW THE BIAS

 



A dance film with GOGI Dance Collective (Alicia Harvie, Ashleigh White and Viviane Frehner) based in the Gold Coast and commissioned by the Bleach Festival (PLACEMAKERS - Rosie Dennis). A three channel dance video with simple structures of curvatures illustrated topographically of body movement inspired by the curvature and gestures of lawn bowls. Curvatures showing the inclination for change of direction of a non-spherical rolling ball - nothing remains perfectly straight but the curvature is used in the play strategy. Technically lawn bowls utilise the off centred ball to loop back and position somewhere precisely with grace. These curves dovetail to the paradoxical grids of industrial sugar cane farming which cut up the natural forms of the Gold Coast hinterland.
